Specimens is a puzzle game. We collect as little as we can: only what the game needs to save your progress, run the rankings and show ads. We never sell your data.
Who we are

What we collect
A game account. When you first open the game, it quietly creates a guest account: a random ID with no name, email or phone number attached. If you choose Sign in with Google, we receive your Google account's email address and a Google user ID, so your progress can follow you to another phone. We don't receive your Google password or contacts.
Your collector's name and avatar. The name you pick (or a generated one like player_1a2b3c4d) and the specimen you choose as your avatar.
Game progress. Your level, solved puzzles, journal and settings, so they can be restored. A copy also stays on your phone.
Results. For the Daily Puzzle and Ranked play: your solve time, mistakes, hints used and rating.
What other players can see
The rankings show your collector's name, avatar and results (times, levels solved, rating). They never show your email address. Choose a name you're happy for others to see.
Ads
Specimens shows ads through Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, basic device information, your approximate location from your IP address, and how you interact with ads. Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA and the UK), the game asks for your consent first. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings. Reminders
If you allow notifications, Daily Puzzle reminders are scheduled on your phone itself. No data is sent to us for them.
Where it's stored
Accounts, progress and results are stored with Supabase, our database provider, and sent over encrypted connections. We don't use analytics or tracking tools, and we don't share your data with anyone except the providers above, who process it to run the game.
How long we keep it
As long as your account exists. If you delete your account, everything linked to it is removed (see below). If you just uninstall the game, a guest account's server copy stays until you ask us to delete it.
Deleting your data
You can ask us to delete your account and all its data at any time. See Delete your account.
Children
Specimens is not made for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you think a child has given us data, email us and we'll delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct, export or delete your data, or to object to how it's used. Email support@buenoworks.app and we'll reply within 30 days.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the game.
